A special sending-off ceremony was held for the participants of the 11th Batch of the Capacity Building and Training of Members of Local Councils, Women Development Committees, and Staff of Local Government Authority, conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), India, and the Local Government Authority (LGA).
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Kumar Gaurav, Deputy High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, and Mr. Mohamed Nimal, Chief Executive Officer of the Local Government Authority, who attended the function and delivered remarks to the participants.
The 11th batch of the training programme will be conducted from 21 June 2026 to 6 July 2026 in Hyderabad, India. The programme aims to enhance the institutional and operational capacities of local councils, while providing participants with firsthand exposure to India’s decentralization framework and best practices in local governance.
A total of 27 participants from island councils will take part in this training program.
